2021 Wichmann Dundee Pinot Noir

2021 Wichmann Dundee Pinot Noir
93 Points, Wine Spectator

The 15-million-year-old soils on this vineyard were created by basaltic lava flows that left behind iron rich red soils in the hills above Dundee.  This special place produces wines of elegance and nuance, often more red-fruited with expressive floral notes, and always full of graceful beauty.  The 2021 Wichmann Dundee was fermented with 50% whole-clusters and aged in 25% new French oak barrels.

"Precise and polished, this red is elegantly complex, opening to raspberry and bright cherry flavors highlights by orange peel and black tea. Glides on the sleek finish. Drink now through 2031."  93 points, T.F. - Wine Spectator

"Often the lowest alcohol wine in the portfolio, this new vintage adds a tart tang to snappy cranberry/strawberry fruit. It's light and well balanced, fermented with half whole clusters, and aged in one quarter new oak, finishing with a gentle hint of milk chocolate." 325 cases; 13.1%;  (Dundee Hills) 91/100 - Paul Gregutt
